HCHS Cafeteria


Visitor dining is available in the Hancock County Memorial Hospital's Cafeteria, which is located on the first floor. Hot meals are served in the cafeteria at the following times:

  • Breakfast, 8:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m., Monday–Friday
  • Lunch, 11:45 a.m.–1:00 p.m., Sunday–Saturday
  • Dinner, As requested. Please notify the cafeteria by 4:30 p.m. if you are planning on staying for an evening meal.

Snack Shack/Vending Machines

The Snack Shack, located in the cafeteria, has a selection of self-serve food, candy and beverage items and is available for purchase from 6:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m., or after hours by request to nursing station (call: 641-843-5200). The Snack Shack offers a variety of options of food, beverages, coffee and cappuccino, pastries, bars, chips and microwaveable snacks.

Inpatient Food Service

Your diet, like your medication, tests and treatment, is prescribed by your physician. If you would like to speak to a Registered Dietitian or the Assistant Director of Nutrition Services about your meals, please ask your nurse to arrange a visit. Your suggestions and comments are cordially invited by our dietary department.

A guest tray can be delivered to a patient room by notifying the cafeteria or nurse.

  • A breakfast tray is $5. Please notify dietary if a guest would like to order breakfast the night before or by 6 a.m. that day.
  • A lunch or supper tray is $7.15. Lunch needs to be ordered by 10:30 a.m. and by 4:30 p.m. for supper.

Payment is due prior to, or at, tray delivery. Another option is to purchase items ala carte from the cafeteria, prices will vary.

Please check with your nurse before eating any food brought in by family or friends. Occasionally you may have a test or treatment that prohibits you from eating or drinking for certain periods of time. You will be served as soon as possible after your examination, test or treatment.
